The Daily Reading For Today Is Judges 21:
Again we have this recurring theme in the book of Judges that gets Israel into a lot of trouble by which they possess this heretical view that their vows are infallible and possess the same authority as God's Law. (v.1)

How many Lawgivers does Israel have or should have? (v.2)
James 4:11–12 (NKJV)
11 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?
Ecclesiastes 5:2 (NKJV)
2 Do not be rash with your mouth, And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few.
Matthew 5:33–37 (NKJV)
33 "Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.' 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
Again, they have forsaken their oath to the covenant given to them at Sinai. And they have made their vows equal to the unchangeable standard of God's Law that binds them together as twelve distinct tribes of one father and nation according to the promises of Abraham and of Issac and of Jacob that have been fulfilled by God's direction to make them one nation in possession of this promised land. (v.3)
Isaiah 8:11–22 (NKJV)
11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 "Do not say, 'A conspiracy,' Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. 13 The Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, And let Him be your dread. 14 He will be as a sanctuary, But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense To both the houses of Israel, As a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many among them shall stumble; They shall fall and be broken, Be snared and taken." 16 Bind up the testimony, Seal the law among my disciples. 17 And I will wait on the Lord, Who hides His face from the house of Jacob; And I will hope in Him. 18 Here am I and the children whom the Lord has given me! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. 21 They will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward. 22 Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness.
Therefore why should we beware not to confuse what the Lord says with what the congregation says (when seeking counsel from God)? (v.4-5)
Jeremiah 7:1–14 (NKJV)
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, 2 "Stand in the gate of the Lord's house, and proclaim there this word, and say, 'Hear the word of the Lord, all you of Judah who enter in at these gates to worship the Lord!'" 3 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: "Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. 4 Do not trust in these lying words, saying, 'The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord are these.' 5 "For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor, 6 if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your hurt, 7 then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever. 8 "Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit. 9 Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know, 10 and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations'? 11 Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of thieves in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it," says the Lord. 12 "But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I set My name at the first, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel. 13 And now, because you have done all these works," says the Lord, "and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear, and I called you, but you did not answer, 14 therefore I will do to the house which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to this place which I gave to you and your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.
Again, is Israel justified in going to war against their own without a trial? (v.5)
How sorry were they for their brother before they vowed rashly with their mouth? Shouldn't they be sorry for themselves first? (v.6)
Luke 23:27–31 (NKJV)
27 And a great multitude of the people followed Him, and women who also mourned and lamented Him. 28 But Jesus, turning to them, said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed!' 30 Then they will begin 'to say to the mountains, "Fall on us!" and to the hills, "Cover us!"' 31 For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?"

Should the tribes offer them another tithe of their sons to fix the error of their rash legislation that they set with their vain mouths? (v.7)
Isaiah 10:1–4 (NKJV)
1 "Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, Who write misfortune, Which they have prescribed 2 To rob the needy of justice, And to take what is right from the poor of My people, That widows may be their prey, And that they may rob the fatherless. 3 What will you do in the day of punishment, And in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory? 4 Without Me they shall bow down among the prisoners, And they shall fall among the slain." For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still.
Does Israel as one man have the right to tax without representation by the one Spirit whom God gave for their unity? (v.8)
Judges 12:1–3 (NKJV)
1 Then the men of Ephraim gathered together, crossed over toward Zaphon, and said to Jephthah, "Why did you cross over to fight against the people of Ammon, and did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house down on you with fire!" 2 And Jephthah said to them, "My people and I were in a great struggle with the people of Ammon; and when I called you, you did not deliver me out of their hands. 3 So when I saw that you would not deliver me, I took my life in my hands and crossed over against the people of Ammon; and the Lord delivered them into my hand. Why then have you come up to me this day to fight against me?"
Consider what Jabesh-gilead means. You can't draw blood from a turnip, can you? (v.9)

Therefore was it because they were more sexually immoral than the rest of Israel that their federal vow justified them to destroy the fruitless city? (v.10)
Maybe the town just needed a well to water their hearts and minds to produce a more enduring fruit? (v.11)

Therefore shouldn't they have been asking why the town was so dry before they just snuffed the life that they did have out of them? (v.12)
Why is it never wrong to seek refuge in the Rock of Israel? (v.13)

Why weren't 400 young virgins enough for the men that fled to Rimmon? (v.14)
Judges 20:46–47 (NKJV)
46 So all who fell of Benjamin that day were twenty-five thousand men who drew the sword; all these were men of valor. 47 But six hundred men turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, and they stayed at the rock of Rimmon for four months.
Why couldn't some greedy men of Israel have surrendered their concubines if they were that sorry for Benjamin? How many wives does one man need? Therefore was it the LORD'S breach of the covenant or their own that laid waste to nearly a whole tribe of Israel? (v.15)

Who told Israel to destroy the women of Benjamin? Maybe the men of Benjamin resorted to homosexuality because the women were too holy to give themselves to the men who acted as (less than) men? Maybe they gave themselves to the LORD? Maybe they weren't as rash with their mouth as the talking heads are? Maybe they thought before they spoke? (v.16)
Judges 11:3 (NKJV)
3 Then Jephthah fled from his brothers and dwelt in the land of Tob; and worthless men banded together with Jephthah and went out raiding with him.
Therefore it's clear that the heads of Israel knew the Lord's purpose of the covenant. (v.17)
Matthew 25:24–30 (NKJV)
24 "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.' 26 "But his Lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29 'For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. But who made them the legislator of God's vow to keep it for Him? (v.18)
Galatians 3:10–14 (NKJV)
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but "the man who does them shall live by them." 13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Do their personal vows trump God's Law, which they vowed to honor above their own lives? (v.19)

And what was the LORD preparing to do for Israel's spiritual growth that the Law and the Testimony may shine the light of its power over the glory of the land and the promise? (v.25)
